Privacy Policy

Last updated: May 2026

At Typing Battle (https://typingbattle.com), protecting your privacy and being transparent about how data is handled are core priorities. This Privacy Policy describes what information is collected when you visit our website, play our typing games, or read our guides, how that information is used, and the choices available to you.

1. Information We Collect

  • Voluntary Gameplay Information: You can use solo practice, guides, and arcade modes without creating an account. When joining multiplayer rooms or submitting a Daily Typing Challenge score, you provide a display nickname (and optional avatar image stored locally in your browser) alongside session statistics (WPM, accuracy, completion time).
  • Local Browser Storage: We use browser localStorage to remember your theme preference (light/dark mode), saved display name, and personal practice history on your own device.
  • Standard Server & Edge Logs: Like most web applications, our hosting infrastructure (Cloudflare) automatically processes technical request metadata such as IP address, browser user-agent, referring page, and request timestamps to deliver pages, maintain WebSocket connections, and defend against automated abuse.

2. Google AdSense & Advertising Cookies

Typing Battle uses Google AdSense to display advertisements that help keep our typing tests, multiplayer servers, and educational guides free for everyone.

  • Third-party vendors, including Google, use cookies (such as Google advertising and DoubleClick cookies) to serve ads based on a user's prior visits to typingbattle.com or other websites on the internet.
  • Google's use of advertising cookies enables Google and its partners to serve personalized or non-personalized ads to visitors based on their visit to our site and/or other sites across the web.
  • You may opt out of personalized advertising at any time by visiting Google My Ad Center / Ads Settings. You can also opt out of third-party vendor cookies used for personalized advertising by visiting www.aboutads.info/choices or www.youronlinechoices.eu.
  • To learn more about how Google processes data from sites and apps that use its services, please review How Google uses information from sites or apps that use our services.

3. Analytics

We use Google Analytics to measure aggregate traffic trends, popular practice durations, and page performance. Google Analytics sets first-party cookies to distinguish unique sessions without identifying you personally. You can opt out by installing the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on or adjusting your cookie preferences.

4. EEA, UK & Swiss Visitors (GDPR) and US State Privacy Rights (CCPA/CPRA)

Visitors located in the European Economic Area (EEA), the United Kingdom, and Switzerland are presented with consent choices in accordance with the EU User Consent Policy before personalized advertising cookies are set. Depending on your jurisdiction, you have the right to request access to, correction of, or deletion of personal data, and to opt out of targeted advertising. We do not sell personal contact lists to third parties.

5. Data Retention & Children's Privacy

Multiplayer battle room state is ephemeral and automatically purged shortly after rooms close. Daily leaderboard entries retain only the submitted display nickname, WPM, accuracy, and completion duration for that day's competition. Typing Battle is intended for general audiences and does not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.
