5 Golden Rules for Breaking 80+ WPM with Touch Typing

  1. Never look down at the keyboard: Looking at your fingers breaks visual cognitive buffering. Look only at the screen.
  2. Anchor to the F and J bumps: Always use the tactile index ridges to recalibrate without looking.
  3. Accuracy before velocity: Maintain 97%+ accuracy. Speed is a natural byproduct of clean finger pathways.
  4. Opposite-hand Shift: Always hold Shift with the opposite hand of the letter you are typing.
  5. Float your wrists: Keep wrists level and slightly floating above the desk to prevent RSI and wrist strain.
